Is Internet Explorer the safest browser?

It seems hard to believe, but a test carried out by security experts from NSS Labs has found that Internet-Explorer repels 94 percent of all infected websites. Coming in second by a considerable distance is Google Chrome. Firefox and Safari on the other hand, do not offer adequate protection against Malware. NSS Labs tested the security capabilities of the four leading web browsers over a period of 175 days. The results are based on three million tests on approximately 85,000 infected websites.

But something is strange about this study. It compares the newest version of the IE with older versions of the other browser. So how serious can we take the results? The analysis carried out by NSS Labs can be found here.
